Native Tongues has received numerous awards and accolades since opening its doors in 2015, including Calgary’s 10 Best Overall Restaurants and Calgary’s Best Mexican Restaurant in several local publications. A second location opened in Britannia Plaza in 2023, adding to its already established reputation for serving up authentic Mexican cuisine. The restaurants are known for their use of high-quality, locally sourced ingredients and traditional cooking methods. Both locations share a similar rustic cantina vibe, with an open kitchen and bar area. Our bar program is centred around Mezcal — one of the world’s most distinct and diverse spirits.

Antojitos, directly translated as "little cravings" are the simple and traditional street foods of Mexico. Consumed at all hours of the day, Antojitos provide quick sustenance to hungry people from all walks of life.

Our bar program is centered around Mezcal, the Spirit of Oaxaca. It is a very unique and distinct spirit, made from a variety of wild agave species, pit roasted, crushed and fermented the old fashioned way.
